Bank Mandiri Bank Terbaik Indonesia continues to develop the segment of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as the driver of the national economy. One of the efforts is to hold Bank Mandiri Young Entrepreneur (WMM) and Independent Young Technopreneur (MYT).

Through the program, the Bank has scored more than 15,000 new entrepreneurs. This event will be followed by a total of 250 young entrepreneurs and independent auxiliary partners in 17 to 20 January 2013 at the Jakarta Convention Center Assembly Hall.

Finance and Strategy Director of Bank Mandiri, Pahala N Mansury said WMM and MYT program aimed at changing the mindset of students to entrepreneurship, so as to reduce dependence on the availability of jobs.

"We are confident that with the increasing number of entrepreneurship, the level of welfare for the environment would be increased so as to stimulate the economy of Indonesia. Because entrepreneurs can create new jobs and will help lower the unemployment rate," said Pahala N Mansury in his office, Jakarta, Monday (14/01/2013).

Mandiri Entrepreneurial Expo 2013 is targeted to be attended by 30,000 students and the younger generation. Bank Mandiri Bank Terbaik Indonesia hopes the expo into a meeting thinking for all stakeholders including the public and academics to realize the commitment of entrepreneurship development in Indonesia.

In addition, the bank also held a Young Entrepreneur Self Workshop 2013 which followed 4,000 participants, consisting of 3,800 students and teachers from 50 public and private universities of Greater Jakarta and 200 invited VIPs. At the workshop, participants were able to exchange ideas with leading speakers such as Managing Director of Garage Technology Ventures Bill Reichert, Trade Minister Gita Wirjawan and film director Joko Anwar.

According to Pahala, interest in young people to entrepreneurship is increasing, as seen from the spike and the MYT participants WMM competition in 2012. A total of 4725 students attend the competition WMM. The amount is higher than that in 2011 as many as 3751 participants. While the participants of the competition MYT 2012 followed by 1292 participants, up from the year 2011 which amounted to only 617 participants.

Total funding of the Partnership as well as micro-credit program and business banking which is channeled also growing. Until 2012, the number given is the total financing of Rp 11.806 billion for the 36 young entrepreneurs who need capital support.

Pahala continued, Mandiri Young Entrepreneur program is an effort to develop financial inclusion in the country. Thus, the people of each layer can access banking services can continue to grow.

Indonesia is still facing challenges in access to financial services is limited. Approximately 32 percent or 76 million people in Indonesia do not enjoy financial services. Lack of financial services in Indonesia is reflected in the number of bank accounts per 1,000 adult population in Indonesia, which only reached 505.
